Try boots on with the socks you would normally wear. New boots should fit snugly at the instep, arch and ball of the foot with a little wiggle room in the toe box.
Western boots should initially slip about ¼ to ½ inch in the heel — this will disappear as the boots flex and conform to your feet.
Measure both feet and use the size for your larger foot. Measure in the afternoon when feet tend to be at their largest.
